The Pacific Northwest Division is composed of the communities of Dease Lake, Houston, Kitimat, Masset, Gitlaxt’aamiks, Prince Rupert, Daajing Giids, Smithers, Stewart, and Terrace. The area offers diverse practice opportunities with the smallest community having a population of nearly 500 and the largest being around 20,000. The larger communities of Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat have specialists available that serve the rest of the Northwest.

Of note, is that the District of Kitimat has launched the first financial incentive designed to attract healthcare professionals to the community. The program offers up to $20,000 in financial rewards for healthcare professionals who fill a vacancy or join a local practice. Applications are now open and will be reviewed beginning September 15, 2025. The incentive applies retroactively to January 1, 2025, and is set to run for three years, with a review planned based on uptake.
