Position Title: Indigenous Resource Library Coordinator – Pacific Northwest Primary Care Networks (PCN)

Reports To: PCN Regional Managers (dual reporting)

Location: Remote, with travel throughout Pacific Northwest communities as required

Employment Type: Term Part-Time (0.5 FTE – 1 Year)

Salary: $60,000 annually (prorated based on FTE)

 

Position Overview

The Indigenous Resource Library Coordinator supports culturally safe, anti-racist, and reconciliation-informed primary care across the Pacific Northwest Primary Care Networks (PCN). Reporting to the Pacific Northwest Regional Managers, this role leads the development, coordination, and maintenance of an Indigenous Resource Library that supports PCN governance, clinical practice, service design, and community engagement.

Guided by BC’s Anti-Racism Act (Bill 23, 2024) and the Pacific Northwest PCN’s commitment to place-based, equity-oriented care, the Coordinator works collaboratively with Indigenous Nations, Elders, Knowledge Holders, community organizations, and PCN partners to ensure resources are respectful, accurate, and reflective of local Indigenous perspectives.

This role strengthens access to Indigenous-led knowledge, cultural safety learning, and lived-experience-informed resources that support PCN service models across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Library Development

  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of an Indigenous Resource Library for PCN staff, clinicians, partners, and advisory bodies
  • Curate culturally appropriate resources related to Indigenous health, wellness, cultural safety, anti-racism, trauma-informed care, and reconciliation
  • Ensure resources reflect the diversity and distinctions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives
  • Establish processes for reviewing, updating, and sustaining resources

Relationship Building

  • Build respectful relationships with Indigenous Nations, Elders, Knowledge Holders, and Indigenous-led organizations
  • Support ethical knowledge sharing practices, including consent, attribution, and appropriate use of Indigenous knowledge
  • Work with Indigenous partners to identify priority topics and resource gaps

Equity and Anti-Racism Alignment

  • Support PCN alignment with BC’s Anti-Racism Act (Bill 23, 2024) and efforts to address Indigenous-specific systemic racism in health care
  • Integrate principles of cultural safety, trauma-informed practice, and equity into resource development

Knowledge Translation

  • Ensure resources are accessible and available in user-friendly formats (digital, print, or visual)
  • Support learning initiatives such as staff orientation and ongoing education
  • Assist in evaluating the use and impact of the resource library

Qualifications

Required

  • Diploma or degree in Indigenous Studies, Health, Education, Library Sciences, Community Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working respectfully with Indigenous communities and knowledge systems
  • Experience developing or curating educational or resource-based content
  • Strong understanding of cultural safety, Indigenous-specific systemic racism, and equity in health care
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills

Preferred

  • Lived experience and/or strong relationships within Indigenous communities in the Pacific Northwest region
  • Knowledge of BC’s Anti-Racism Act, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, and UNDRIP
  • Experience in primary care, health systems, or community-based services
