The Smithers Maternity Collaborative is seeking a Registered Midwife to join our collaborative maternity care practice in the lovely Bulkley Valley.  Linked with the newly forming Bulkley Valley Witset Primary Care Network (PCN), our wonderful team includes a Midwife and Family Physicians with planned expansion to include perinatal nursing supports.  Through the PCN, maternity patients will also have access to other allied health care providers such as a dietitian, psychologist, physiotherapist, and pharmacist. 

As the Registered Midwife you will have the ability to meet all of the midwifery requirements in the community, ie Peer Review, Continuing Competencies and Continuing Professional Development, regular group skills drills and Emergency sessions, occasional specialty programs such as ACORN and POCUS certification.

Bulkley Valley District Hospital has cesarean section capability, 3 GP surgeons, 3 GP anesthetists, and the MOREob Program.   The hospital has 4 birthing rooms and a designated waterbirthing tub.   The region has an overall homebirth rate of 8.6%
